Hi, I’m Jennifer!
I am a Meemee (Mother) of two young boys. My two boys are both three years and one year old. My three year old son, Leonard, loves to call me “Meemee” instead of the usual “Mama” since he could talk. My husband and I are both chasing after these little toddlers on a regular basis!
I am a Registered Nurse with over ten years of nursing experience in a variety of healthcare settings. I graduated with a Bachelors of Nursing degree from Mount Royal University in 2012 and also with a Masters in Nursing degree in 2021. I started my career at Foothills Hospital on an internal medicine unit and have moved to other areas such as community health, seniors health and oncology. Recently, I taught nursing students at the University of Calgary. I have special interest in postpartum nursing and newborn care and have additional training in newborn assessments and postpartum care for mothers. I am also a certified yoga instructor who can guide you through poses for effective postpartum recovery.
Motherhood is lifechanging. I am excited to support you and provide professional and compassionate care! As a mother, I can relate to you on a physical and emotional level.
My Approach
The postpartum period is a critical time for new mothers since there are significant physical and emotional changes. Different cultures have varying beliefs and practices surrounding motherhood and caring for a baby. We are professional, respectful, compassionate and consider cultural context when assessing mothers so it can lead to more tailored interventions and improved outcomes. We recognize that hormonal changes, sleep deprivation, and challenges with caring for a newborn contribute to psychological vulnerability. As a result, we will work with you and support you and your baby so that the forth trimester can be comfortable for you and your baby.
